AI Lookbook Prompts: One Photo, a Whole Set of Outfits

A lookbook is the page a fashion label uses to show one person in a run of different outfits. The AI version, sometimes called the Instagram lookbook effect, does the same with your own photo: one upload, and you get yourself in four looks side by side, or one outfit shown from the front, side and back. If you searched for a lookbook prompt, this page gives you seven you can copy and paste into Gemini.

There are three lookbook prompts for boys and four for girls. They cover common lookbook layouts: a waist-up shirt grid, several outfits side by side, the same outfit from four angles, a festive ethnic set and a winter capsule. Every prompt asks for the same face and hair in every panel.

We ran each of the seven prompts at least three times in Gemini with the exact wording shown here, and every run came back as one image with the panels asked for. Smiles, hair and jewelry still changed now and then; the tutorial below has the details. Start with a clear, front-facing, well-lit photo of yourself. Each sample image was made from an AI-generated stand-in photo, never a real person, so expect a similar layout rather than an exact copy. Only use photos of yourself or of adults who have agreed, and please label AI edits when you share them.

Last tested in Gemini on . How to use these prompts

Sample images were made by running each exact prompt in an AI image generator on an AI-generated stand-in photo. Your result will not match the sample exactly: it depends on your photo, the model and version you use, and the randomness of each run.

Only upload a photo of yourself, or of an adult who has agreed to it. Please don't use these prompts on photos of anyone under 18.

Shirt lookbook grid prompt

Turn the person in the photo into a 2x2 shirt lookbook, same face, hair and beard in every panel, waist-up on a plain light-grey backdrop: a white linen shirt; a light-blue oxford shirt tucked into navy trousers; an olive overshirt open over a white tee; a black satin shirt. Natural relaxed poses, no text, no logos or prints on any clothing.

Tip: The only 2x2 grid among the seven prompts: with waist-up panels it came back as a clean 2x2 in all three of our runs.

Winter capsule lookbook prompt

Turn the person in the photo into one winter lookbook image of four full-length panels side by side in a single row, one outfit each, same face and hair throughout: camel coat, cream sweater, jeans and brown ankle boots; grey puffer jacket, black leggings and plain white sneakers; knit sweater, plaid skirt and tights; beige trench coat and black turtleneck. Plain light backdrop, no text, no logos.

Tip: Gemini chose the knit sweater's color itself (green, rust and beige in our three runs); name a color if you have one in mind.

How to use these prompts in Gemini

  1. Start with a clear, front-facing photo in even light. A head-and-shoulders photo is enough: our stand-in photos show only the head and upper body, and Gemini drew the full-length bodies and shoes itself.
  2. Open gemini.google.com (we tested the web version) and start a new chat, or a Temporary chat, which stays out of your chat history but is kept by Google for 72 hours.
  3. Tap +, choose Upload files, add the photo and paste one prompt from this page. The model picker showed Gemini Auto and we picked no tool; each lookbook came back in 15 to 36 seconds.
  4. Count the panels and check that each outfit appears once, then zoom in on every face. In full-length panels the face is small, and the smile, the hair or added jewelry can differ from your photo.
  5. Save it with the download button. If the layout or a face is off, run the prompt again in a new chat; in our tests the same prompt gave a different result each time.

When the result goes wrong

Extra panels and repeated outfits in a 2x2 grid

Our first wording for full-length looks asked for a '2x2' lookbook. With three such prompts, the second of two runs each came back as six or eight panels, repeating outfits, adding ones we never asked for (a checked shirt, a navy kurta) and, once, panels of legs with no head. Asking for 'exactly four full-length panels, one outfit each' in a 2x2 still didn't give a clean grid in three of six runs. Four full-length panels side by side in a single row, the wording the four-outfit and winter prompts use now, came back right in all eight runs we made, two of them on a set we left off this page. For a 2x2, keep to waist-up looks like the shirt grid prompt, which gave a clean 2x2 all three times.

Three looks as three separate pictures

The festive prompts first began 'Make a three-panel festive lookbook'. In three of our four runs of that wording, the image we saved showed just one outfit, and in the run where we counted the pictures, Gemini had split the set into three. Starting with 'Make one single image split into three side-by-side panels', as both festive prompts now do, gave one three-panel image in all eight of our runs.

A smile or loose hair your photo doesn't have

Our stand-in photos have closed-mouth smiles, and the woman's hair is tied back. With the wording on this page, 6 of our 23 runs had a toothy smile in at least one panel, and in 5 of the 13 runs of the girls' prompts the hair came down or hung loose in some panels. Adding 'Keep the expression, closed mouth and hairstyle from the photo in every panel.' to the festive ethnic prompt (the third version below) kept the hair tied back in both of our runs, but one panel still had a toothy smile. Running the prompt again in a new chat also works: 14 of our 23 runs kept both.

Other ways to word it

Four-outfit prompt as a 2x2 grid

Turn the person in the photo into one 2x2 lookbook grid of exactly four full-length panels, one outfit each, no repeats, same face and hair in every panel, plain light-grey backdrop: white tee, light-wash jeans and plain white canvas sneakers; navy blazer, cream blouse and tailored trousers; pastel cotton kurta set with flat sandals; black midi dress with block heels. No text, no logos.

One of our two runs came back as a clean 2x2 grid; the other had seven panels, with the kurta and the black dress repeated.

Winter capsule prompt as a 2x2 grid

Turn the person in the photo into one 2x2 winter lookbook grid of exactly four full-length panels, one outfit each, same face and hair throughout: camel coat over a cream sweater and jeans with brown ankle boots; grey puffer jacket, black leggings and plain white sneakers; knit sweater, plaid skirt and tights; beige trench coat over a black turtleneck. Plain light backdrop, no text, no logos.

One of our two runs came back as a clean 2x2 grid; the other kept the four outfits but put them in one large panel and three small ones.

Festive ethnic prompt keeping your expression and hair

Make one single image split into three side-by-side panels: a festive lookbook of the person in the photo, same face and hair throughout, in a maroon silk saree with a gold border, a mustard lehenga with a mirror-work blouse, and a teal anarkali with a sheer dupatta. Warm string-light bokeh behind, full-length, no idols, statues or deity figures, no text. Keep the expression, closed mouth and hairstyle from the photo in every panel.

In both of our runs the hair stayed tied back in every panel; one run still had a toothy smile in one panel and put a Christmas wreath and tree behind her.

Last tested

: On October 25 and 26, 2026 we ran every prompt on gemini.google.com, each in a new Temporary chat with the model picker on Gemini Auto and the AI-generated stand-in photos we use for the samples: each prompt at least three times with the wording on this page (23 runs), plus 20 runs of earlier wordings, of the third version below and of an eighth prompt we left out. All 23 came back as one image with the panels asked for; one festive run cut the figures off above the feet, and one four-angle run set the views out as two large and two small panels. We judged faces by eye: they are small in full-length panels, so we didn't measure likeness or skin tone.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI lookbook prompt?

It asks an AI image editor to show the person in your photo in several outfits, or in one outfit from several angles, laid out as a single image like a page from a fashion catalogue. Each prompt here names the outfits, the layout and the backdrop, and asks for the same face and hair in every panel.

Will every panel still look like me?

In our runs the panels showed the same person as the stand-in photo, judged by eye, but full-length panels make the face small, and smiles, hair and jewelry sometimes changed (see the tutorial). Use a clear, front-facing photo and zoom in on each face before you share it.

Can I change the outfits?

Yes. Replace the outfit descriptions, one per panel, and keep the layout words, such as 'four full-length panels side by side in a single row, one outfit each'. We only tested the outfits written here, so check each panel afterwards.

Is this page for boys and girls or for adults?

Many people search for prompts for boys and girls, but every prompt here is written for a photo of an adult. Use your own photo or one of an adult who has agreed, and please don't upload a photo of anyone under 18.
